My computer has been running very very slowly and I recently got an error message that I 'had too many bit programs running and that I could make an adjustment under 'Files'??? I don't know how to find 'Files' and also how do I determine which programs are bit or too large so that I many uninstall or disable these programs or remove them from Startup???
Also there may be processess that I could stop but I don't know which ones are system files and I am afraid to stop the ones I need. Please advise. I am getting no responses to this inquiry Did I phrase the question badly? With it all said and done, you can normally right click on your application properties and select make app compatible.
I am sort of rusty at this but I have dealt with the problem. Why are you using bit applications on a bit OS? Are there any updates for your apps.

User Account Control asks for Admin password, I enter it and then wait. Disk Defragmenter doesn't launch at all and I see this error message popo windowd on desktop. The rest of Start menu is also frozen so I nit to use Task Manager to log off. I too am getting the same message "Too many other files are currently in use by bit programs.
The really mysterious thing from what I can find is that I am running Windows 7 - 64 bit and everything I read says that you can't run bit programs in 64 windows 7 too many 16 bit programs running free. I am receiving the same error. I have searched and searched to find any ideas to get through this, and there has been no answers.
